Culture is critical to making anything of enduring value.
We believe culture isn't just about what we say but, more importantly, what we do. And it's especially about what we do even if it's hard or painful. Values aren't disposable when they're inconvenient.
Key pillars shape our core beliefs as a studio:
peak experiences
It's About What Matters To Players
We aim to make peak experiences that challenge players and will be remembered for decades, so the player experience comes first. Because that is our north star, understanding of our players and what they care about is the currency of our organization.
Creative Venture
Game Development Is A Creative Venture, Not A Factory Process
We recognize that making incredible experiences requires immersing oneself in a problem space and diving deep. This is something we love doing as passionate game developers but can easily lead to burnout.
At Stoke Games we're structuring our studio to enable game makers to do the best work of their careers by embracing the flexibility of remote work, planning creative rest into the schedule and funding peak experiences. We believe this is the needed fuel for crafting awesome experiences for players.
DARING GREATLY
Making Games Is An Exercise In Learning That Starts With Vulnerability
In the process of making anything great, we first make something incomplete and imperfect. We acknowledge that game development is inherently hard — many different disciplines, sets of expertise and voices need to come together to create any compelling game experience.
When we strive together, we give each other room to fail, to be incomplete, to be wrong, and then help each other push forward. We are always growing and teamwork is a skill set we develop with the same zeal as our discipline crafts.
