Lead 3D HARD SURFACE ARTIST - armored vehicle designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Lead 3D Hard Surface Modeler with a strong background in designing sci-fi armored vehicles. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating stylized, yet visceral 3D models of futuristic and armored vehicles, including tanks, mechs, spacecraft, and other advanced machinery. As the lead modeler you will oversee the modeling team, ensuring the highest quality of work. You will collaborate closely with the Art Director, concept artists, designers, and engineers to bring innovative vehicle designs to life.

YOU WOULD:

  • Lead and work with internal and external team members, providing guidance, feedback, and support.

  • Create highly detailed and accurate 3D models of sci-fi armored vehicles, focusing on hard surface modeling techniques.

  • Collaborate with concept artists to translate 2D designs into 3D models.

  • Work closely with designers and engineers to ensure models meet gameplay, aesthetic, and technical requirements.

  • Maintain consistency and quality across all vehicle models.

  • Optimize models for performance without sacrificing visual quality.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate new techniques and technologies into the modeling process.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A portfolio showcasing your expertise in 3D hard surface modeling, particularly sci-fi armored vehicle design.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in 3D modeling, with a focus on hard surface modeling and sci-fi vehicle design.

  • Strong understanding and genuine interest in vehicle mechanics, weaponry principles, and sci-fi design aesthetics.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics.

  • Excellent proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.

  • Familiarity with PBR texturing workflows and software (i.e. Substance Painter).

  • Knowledge of game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.

  • Understanding of the complete 3D production pipeline.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
